I am writing this first blog while waiting in Incheon International Airport, Korea to catch up my next flight to Washington D.C. This is my first time to America – the country I have always wanted to visit. I feel very lucky to be selected as one of many other Southeast Asian fellows to participate in YSEALI – Professional Follows Program on topic Sustainable Development and Environment.
The week before my departure was really a hectic one for me as I tried to wrap up and finish all the ongoing work in the office so I can set everything aside and focus 100% of my time and energy in this fellowship.
I know it’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me in the next five weeks, I will be very busy to make new friend, expand my network and and create great memories with other fellows as well as with my host community in Tallahassee.
I am truly grateful for this opportunity. I am excited yet nervous for the coming experiences. But as ICMA’s advice, I believe that as long as I keep my mind open, have patience, be positive and enjoy the diversity, everything will be just fine 🙂
