While my trip has been overshadowed by credit card problems to pay for the hotel, I am embracing the “growing pains” of both a young economy and my introduction to Dili. I am definitely enjoying the weather (lows in the 80s (F)) while most of the eastern US is breaking records for cold!
I am here with my host Marcos studying waste prevention, management, diversion issues and as we discussed at length during his stay in Massachusetts in April/May, we have a lot to think about in terms of chicken and egg… and fitting in/bolstering different efforts already underway through various US aid and NGO projects.
The one thing for certain – their current open field incineration waste treatment is good for no one.
